There are pubs and breweries. But what if you want to try some great Sardinian artisanal beer and still enjoy a healthy delicious meal? Look no further and take note of their addresses as here are three brewpubs you’ve got to try on your next holiday in Sardinia.

As with many of the best-eating outlets in the world, these brewpubs don’t enjoy prime locations in town centres and you can easily miss them. Not now that you’re reading this article. Let’s go take a seat.

IL BIRRIFICIO DI CAGLIARI

GREATEST SELECTION

Cagliari’s Brewery is the biggest Brewpub in Sardinia. For you, that means a huge selection off of their menu.

BEER

Their beer is unfiltered and unpasteurized, rigorously on tap, and comes directly from their copper-coated vats, which you can see through two ample windows.

From Stouts to Bitter Ale, from Weizen to Smoked, and from Helles to Honey Saison – you’ll have 11 different beer types to taste.

FOOD

As for their a-la-carte menu, pick and choose anything – it’s all delicious. From their stout brew stew to their pale ale chilli (really savoury and vegan), from their weizen horse meat to their helles roast pork, from their dubbel flank steak to their signature dessert: beer-misù, a tiramisù prepared with their stout beer.

TRULLA

TRULY SARDINIAN

Trulla is the most Sardinian brewpub on the island. First of all, their primary language of communication is Sardinian. Second, they make beer infused with Sardinian flavours. Third, their food is superlative and, you guessed it, all Sardinian.

BEER

Choose from a selection that includes Porter, Golden Ale, Scotch Ale to cite but a few. However, do not miss their seasonal beers, they’re the best.

FOOD

Try their Pane Lentu con Purpuza, it’s the typical Sardinian flatbread cooked once (Lentu) instead of twice – so it stays soft – served with pork meat, tomatoes and pecorino cheese. Or any of their grilled meat – they all come from the Nuoro region.

For dessert, try their Dulcis in Fusto. It’s a dessert beer mixed with almonds, asphodel honey from nearby Orgosolo, vanilla and lactose. It comes served with whipped cream and shaved almonds on top.
